SligoTown on the Net is an independently-created website, which is not connected in any way to the websites of the official bodies or towns in Sligo, or to the tourist authorities.
The photographs, text and the coding for the website have all been created by local historian and full-time Sligo taxi owner/driver Chris Ridley,

Started in 2002, Sligo Town on the Net, is a personal crusade towards trying to promote Sligo Town as a possible holiday or weekend break destination.
We receive absolutely no financial help from any tourist, government or commercial organisation, relying instead on paid website advertising to cover our operating costs.
Over the past ten years we have received numerous compliments about the website, both verbal from Sligo‘s local inhabitants, via e-mail’s, on our online guestbook, and from customers in my taxi and visitors to the website. If it wasn’t for this encouragement we would probably have given it all up a long, long time ago.
